New Kitten

We have a new little bundle of joy.  She's a 7 week old kitten.  Cute, curious, and very vocal.  She loves to let us know she's in the room. It's amazing how this sweet little creature can make us smile.  We have yet to come up with the perfect name.  We're thinking something like Gabriella or Gabby for short.  We just don't know if that fits her.   In time....

My New Shop

I recently discovered Etsy.com.   A website like eBay where artists and craftsmen can sell their handmade goods.  Etys gives me the opportunity to be an entrepreneur from my sewing room. This is genius!  I've always wondered whether anyone else would find my little creations worthy.   I've had 3 sales since opening shop in July.  It's kind of a slow process, but I am having so much fun with it.  Today I discovered that someone from another shop including one of my pieces in their Treasury listing.  Sweet validation!  I work full-time in a sales office and my Etsy shop provides both an outlet for my obsession with crafting and a distraction from the stresses of the sales world.   I highly recommend it.

About Me

My name is Wendy. I'm the mother of two fantastic kids (both in college) and the wife of a wonderful artist. I've been crafting and sewing since I was 8 years old. My grandmother taught me how to sew on her old Singer. We used upholstery and drapery fabric samples... the kind interior decorators use. The first thing I ever made was a vest out of heavy damask material. Each panel was a different color version of the same pattern since the sample pieces were only about 2' x 2'. Imagine wearing that to school.

When I went to college, I started out as a retailing major and took many sewing and tailoring classes. About half way through, I changed my major to art and concentrated in textile design. I've done everything from cross-stitch to weaving. I've quilted, embroidered, beaded, painted, thrown pottery, screen-printed...you name it, I've probably done it at one time or another. My favorite thing to do, though, is to sew.
